Well it's about that time again. Calling off from work. I happened to do this at least once a season. Last time I did it was just beginning of fall, it's now END of January and I think it's about due. I'm achy from all the working out, and I went to a salsa dancing class last night and wore the highest heels I own when everyone else were wearing tennis shoes and jeans. Who goes to a SALSA dancing class in sneakers? When I go to the Latin clubs I'm wearing my heelz and a breezy skirt.. you have to feel the music, and I feel it in my heels..lol ANYHOW long story short my calves are on fire. Maybe that's the reason they wore tennis shoes..lol
Work has been just demanding, I was asked to work over time on a Sat twice. Usually I don't care, but lately my husband has been getting the weekend off and it's nice having the time to spend with him so I've been saying no and then I start getting the guilty glare now and then. Plus, tomorrow is Friday.. and High of 57 degrees Friday at that. I said I was gonna do it last week, but I chickened out. Don't know why, I have almost gang of sick time.. I think I was starting to care for a second?
How do you spend your personal day off?
Even though I'll be off tomorrow, I'm gonna be kinda busy through out the day. Joining the hubs to get his hair primped & faded in the early morning. Maybe get some gym time in the afternoon, then helping a friend that I mentioned in this blog.. Abuse. She's actually getting married to him on Saturday at the court house. We've talked, she knows how I feel yatta yatta, but you can't change people's minds. They have to experience things for themselves sometimes. But I still got love for her, touchy situation it is. (but that's another story, blog story rather)
So, For tomorrow I gonna just do to the sick thing, that's really all I have to say. You don't have to be all descriptive and super informative. I don't make my voice groggy cause this lady does it here and it sounds so fake and "lets see how deep I can make my voice with as much crackle as I can" sound. lol An interesting finding I found was a WikiHow on how to do it.. It's pretty funny actually because I really think somebody thought long & hard about how to do it.
But I don't blame it though can you? Sometimes you just need a break of SANITY..I gotta re-group without worrying about spending 8 more full long hours with the same people I see everyday, all day..it makes a better employee. Heck come Monday, I'll be back mentally clean as a whistle with a smile on my face..

So it's been 4 weeks now and I've been on the crusade to better health. I've joined every online web calorie keeper, every weight bar tracker and blog you can find. BTW SparkPeople.com is just the greatest. So is Calorie King if you want to know down to the digit on what your putting in your mouth. The first 3 weeks I probably cared, but this week..hellish isn't even the word. I've worked on every muscle on my 5 ft 2 inch frame.
I visited the gym awhole lot and played a couple of basket-ball games with my husband. I love playing with him. Usually I'm breathless as a whore on a hot day, so I know I'm getting a good cardio's worth. Sometimes we wager a little bit. Whoever wins gets to have oil a massage. And he's serious.. like if I don't win I don't get nothing! I guess it makes getting one that much better. Plus I don't mind.. I try harder next time.
So I get to the gym, and do my thang. As I start wasting down and doing weights I people watch a tad.. I don't stare like the guys do at the skinny mini's who actually go to the gym wearing the tightest booty crease plastered leggings and just a sports bra. Hence why I don't wear that stuff to the gym, your asking for it. Plus I don't want to see where you are sweating..ugh.
You see the men and their waste belts pulling truck loads of weight, the evening office workoutters with their work sock creases on their calf (me included). My gym even has some of the cutest little old people trying to get their fit on. Hopefully I can keep this up.. I ate bad on Sunday because my husband through a dorky "XBOX Land Party".. I just recently found out what that was all about. He told me my services were only needed in the kitchen. After a few slaps upside the head I was able to get in some vocals on Rock Band. That is really a cool game. I listen to all types of music but hopefully they will make one with different genre's that would be so awesome.
Anyway.. (that went totally off the subject) In tyring to keep up the positive weight loss and tone up plan, I vow to get back on track and hit it harder this week. I just need to think of some better food options while trying to do so. Salad is no longer an option.. lol

Usually, I don't watch the over exaggerated re-make of a popular movie, but over the weekend I was channel surfing through the cable channels and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story was coming on so I decided to watch it. Yes, it was soooo silly and had some crazy parts like the naked man in the hotel with the incredibly smallest penis I've ever seen in my life.. *ahem, however.. It was really funny.
What made it so funny was the songs, that John C. Riley was really singing, and they were half way decent.. The whole movie was derived from Johnny Cash's story, Walk The Line with Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon. Which honestly I've never seen.. didn't look that great from the trailers, but after this satire, maybe I'll see it..
Tim Meadows is in it and he plays the druggie, stolen from the scene in Ray.. he's always funny..He's a different kind of humor with a straight face.
The time line was cool to watch too, from the 40's all the way to present, I like time-line movies like that, that changes from decade to decade; like Forest Gump.
Don't get me wrong it has it's share of stupidity, but it's great for a quick chuckle er two..

This weekend I'm going to be all about my projects I have going on. Other than hosting a birthday dinner for my man friend's girlfriend, I also have a yarn crawl. (searching & purchasing for yarn from different LYS (local yarn stores))
Knitting is just he coolest, I learned over a year a so ago by a lady who I worked with. I have a huge passion for winter fashion and I collect winter accessories, but I always wanted to make my own instead of buying them all the time. Giving them out as gifts is always a huge plus. This year I gave out 2 scarfs and 1 hat. Really that's all I've made so far. Plus a thousand scarfs for me of course. I'm working on a thick black and purple cabled blanket to give to my bf in Cali. Even though it's 80 degrees there in January.
Here are some pics..
This is a scarf I made for my brother, he wanted to Red, Black & Green Colors
This one was for my husband, just a coal grey cabled scarf
This was for me.. just nice cozy, soft & warm
The next project I want to make is from Kinky Coils & Sting
Hopefully I'll be able to find a the yarn to make this also: THE WOMEN's RED VEST
It might seem kinda old foagy, but knitting is a great release, keeps me busy and not in the refrigerator and I can make the tightest looking stuff.. Fun shit!

What an awesome week. Yesterday a reminiscent of honorable Dr. King, and today the inauguration of a different kind of nation. Soon I will be joining the many, and the varied few here in my office to watch this historical event. Honestly, one couldn't even imagine, even if I made up. I wish all the fallen, buried and burned could rise and experience what we all so long ago forgotten.
To all celebrating, or just tagging along respectfully, this is a shining moment for all. I leave you with these words of weezy:
Days later: I read this article and this exemplifies exactly how alot of African Americans are thinking right now.. almost to a T. This is what makes this momentous event so grand: Black First Family Changes Everything
Joseph E. Lowery had a wonderful Benediction prayer, here is the video & transcript:
Transcript courtesy Federal News Service
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, thou who has brought us thus far along the way, thou who has by thy might led us into the light, keep us forever in the path, we pray, lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee, lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee. Shadowed beneath thy hand may we forever stand — true to thee, O God, and true to our native land.
We truly give thanks for the glorious experience we’ve shared this day. We pray now, O Lord, for your blessing upon thy servant, Barack Obama, the 44th president of these United States, his family and his administration. He has come to this high office at a low moment in the national and, indeed, the global fiscal climate. But because we know you got the whole world in your hand, we pray for not only our nation, but for the community of nations. Our faith does not shrink, though pressed by the flood of mortal ills.
For we know that, Lord, you’re able and you’re willing to work through faithful leadership to restore stability, mend our brokenness, heal our wounds and deliver us from the exploitation of the poor or the least of these and from favoritism toward the rich, the elite of these.
We thank you for the empowering of thy servant, our 44th president, to inspire our nation to believe that, yes, we can work together to achieve a more perfect union. And while we have sown the seeds of greed — the wind of greed and corruption, and even as we reap the whirlwind of social and economic disruption, we seek forgiveness and we come in a spirit of unity and solidarity to commit our support to our president by our willingness to make sacrifices, to respect your creation, to turn to each other and not on each other.
And now, Lord, in the complex arena of human relations, help us to make choices on the side of love, not hate; on the side of inclusion, not exclusion; tolerance, not intolerance.
And as we leave this mountaintop, help us to hold on to the spirit of fellowship and the oneness of our family. Let us take that power back to our homes, our workplaces, our churches, our temples, our mosques, or wherever we seek your will.
Bless President Barack, First Lady Michelle. Look over our little, angelic Sasha and Malia.
We go now to walk together, children, pledging that we won’t get weary in the difficult days ahead. We know you will not leave us alone, with your hands of power and your heart of love.
Help us then, now, Lord, to work for that day when nation shall not lift up sword against nation, when tanks will be beaten into tractors, when every man and every woman shall sit under his or her own vine and fig tree, and none shall be afraid; when justice will roll down like waters and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around — (laughter) — when yellow will be mellow — (laughter) — when the red man can get ahead, man — (laughter) — and when white will embrace what is right.
Let all those who do justice and love mercy say amen.
REV. LOWERY: Say amen –
REV. LOWERY: — and amen.
AUDIENCE: Amen! (Cheers, applause.)

Pregnancy must be in the drinking water here in Kansas. Seems like everyone and their mama is pregnant. Three ladies here at work, my youngest sister, and a couple in my husband's family. One of the ladies here at work actually got married the same day as I did, and now she's preggo. We saw each other in the kitchen, flaunting her beautiful belly. lol I asked:
Me: Wow, baby's getting bigger! When are you due?
Mrs.Glowing : March 13th
Me: Wow, hope that's not on a Friday! :: Laughing::
Mrs. Glowing: < stone face >
Me: Well, haha.. you look great, I can't wait to pop one out soon.
Mrs. Glowing: What are you waiting for?
Me: 5 years, it's what we said, so hopefully by 30.
Mrs. Glowing: 30! I'll be on my next one by then! Good luck.
Me: We just wanted a little time for ourselves. We barely like each other now, no telling if we had a baby today.
Mrs. Glowing: < stone face >
Me: ::thinking:: I don't like talking to her anyways.
SO with all that baby talk, I am kinda jealous of the new expectant mamas. I do want a little one, but aren't they like forever? No return policy with that at all huh? My husband is still playing around himself. A baby would just throw a wrench in the whole party. I have this small inclination to want to get it started though, I don't want to be old with a kindergartner, but then again maybe not. If we don't give some time to ourselves we would really want to kill each other like War of the Roses with Micheal Douglas. Watch it sometime, it's funny.
Some of you are mothers on here, and I know your children are the brightest star's in your sky. It must be an awesome feeling to be a mother. I know my mama thinks so.

I have an old friend... and I'm kinda sad.
She was one of my very best friends from highschool and I miss her. =0(
She's been stricken with a terrible disease called Bouji-itis.
In highschool she was this fun loving, caring and care free girl, who didn't give a damn about the world, if she scarfed down two whoppers at lunchtime or went out and got shitfaced at the crib with the cool kids. She was boarder line ditz and couldn't tell ding from dang but we loved her anyway. Beauty was the main staple that held her together. She was hot, everybody wanted to get with her. She had that Peru/Bolivian beauty. Somehow though, something... changed about her as we got older. She started dating this short snob of a wanna be, and he got into her head. Showed her how to persuade Gucci, & Coach, and whatever is nice out there I don't know about. Well I'm not into all that, so after she wanted to go to the chic'est restaurants, and techno ritzy clubs, we kinda just fell apart. I no longer was saving for the newest, latest and greatest. I had to take care of my brother, keep my car working, and pay the bills. Our priorities changed. I miss her and wish she was still around. My Cali bf is not Bouji, but likes nice stuff but she can keep it real too. We can get a $5 foot long, go to the spa, laugh & have a great day. To each it's own, but when you fake the funk so hard I can see right through you, it becomes not fun anymore.. There's people dying out there and she's worried about starving herself and buying $250 jeans on a Walmart budget. I can't worry with her anymore like in highschool, now it's like are you kidding?
So.. Today is deemed Bouji-itis Thursday. Stay clear or you might get terribly sick. No one but snobs & snots would want to hang around you..your hair will start to turn, and $ signs will permanently stay in your eyes... beware.

To be a woman, means so much. One of which is to be pretty damn cute at all times. Some how, subjectively... that doesn't work for me. HOWEVER, I will maintain casual up keep and maintenance it would take to make me look presentable not crazy. I am by no means VAIN, but how far can you go to be a woman and to not be in the same category as vanity.
Vanity: An inflation of mind upon slight grounds; empty pride inspired by an overweening conceit of one's personal attainments, appearance or decorations; an excessive desire for notice or approval; pride; ostentation; conceit.
Well that just makes it sound so negative. I'm sure we all take the extra measure for a little personal attention. I read an article that said that women look in the mirror 27 times a day. 27 times? For what? I know I do about half that... not including the glass work doors, the vending machine reflection and the back of my ID case. lol
I speak of this because I'm damning the day I decided to get laser hair removal. I've been doing it for a few years now, but like alot of women that are afraid to admit it, I do get a nice hairy visitor above my upper lip, and side burns that could make Elvis blush. Thanks to some wonderful genes and a few chromosomes this was able to be carried to me. My latin chikas got it just as bad and their gorgeous, it just happens..so we share our secrets.
At this moment, my face is burning off and red like I slept on a oven eye.. The stuff we go through to be beautiful. Here are some other shamelessly beauty vanities that make being a woman that much harder.
1. Laser hair removal
2. Brazilian Waxing, did it come from Brazil? Crazy people
3. Labia Surgery, which I think is a crock, unless your a hermaphrodite
4. Sweat Gland Surgery
5. Buttock Implants I got my mine from my mama.. lol
I'd say stick w/ what God gave you and make it work in your life. My friends might call me Mufassa <~~ (hairy lion) but I'm still happy... without the labia or ass surgery. lol

My husband and I had a small tiffle over the weekend. He has single friends that he hangs out with and then. Well on Saturday, he told me around 10:nish (pm) that he was going out with his dude. I asked him where they were goin, he said to "Voodoo Lounge". (Which is a club here in Harrah's Casino) We all were there 3 weeks ago because my bf was in town for the holidays..so, me being at home and bored, I said "I'm going too".
Well call out the trumpets, cause he's about to blow.. (and whine). He said "It's only going to be all guys, none of their girls are going to be there." I said, "Ok, so what's the problem? Why is my attendance an issue? Got something to hide?"
He said "No." Then I brought up the fact that it was a club. His friends are going to be mingling and caking with chicks, what are you gonna be doing in the mean time?
He said, "Talking to them!!, Why is this an issue?"
I told him I didn't feel right about a married couple going to the club by themselves, plus it's more fun when you bring your spouse, cause then you can role play. Like on 4 Christmases with Reece Witherspoon, when they went to that bar and they acted like they just met! We do that sometimes, and it's fun. But this time he wanted to be solo, sooooooo
He went. I thought I shouldn't feel bad, but we always go together. He thought I was showing some insecureness, but it's like why are you going there for, when what you have is at home? Now, I've been without him.. yes. When he worked late or couldn't go, but I don't have fun w/o him anymore.
Married or not? Is it ok to let your man club (not poker, party or frolic, but dance club) with his friends? OR am I putting a tight grip on his balls?

So, my bf (which is best friend, and yes I'm 26 and still use it) CC has moved to the lovely state of California about 2 years ago. She was there for an exchange program for College, and just out of know where decided to stay. I guess the extremely cold winters and nothing imaginable to do on the weekends here in Kansas wasn't much fun as we all thought. So for her birthday I will be traveling to the oh so wonderful "Golden State" to see her. Now, I've never been there, so I hope it's all what it's cracked up to be. I do want to see all the tourist attractions that everyone else goes to see like these:
Now she lives in Long Beach, so I don't know much about that city but she loves it. She said it's 30 something minutes away from LA, so it won't take her much to pick me up from the airport. =0)
I haven't traveled much in the US, but I hope CA doesn't let me down. NY is next on my list someday, but I have to literally prepare myself for that city. NY isn't taking no smack, and I wanna walk and talk crazy like the rest of em. (just gathering from the NY Dr's I talk to everyday, they are the most demanding people ever!, you think I give a rats ass b/c you have MD behind your stuck up name?) Anyway! I really can't wait.
During that time I'll be sure to post a pic er two of my Cali Trail Travels.

Lately I've been working my ass off trying to lose some major newlywed poundage. I don't know what happened but I proved my husband right that after you get married the wife will start to look like her mother. My mom is a lovely lady, but she has some hips & gut on her that I was so lucky to inherit. After the honeymoon I gained a substantial amount of weight, I think from shackin up literally and making 3 meals a day fit for a king. My husband is a meat and potatoes guy, and genetically athletic as hell. Before we met I barely was at home, activities kept me lookin good and I ate whenever. Now it's like when I see old friends... whoa.. I'm hiding behind trash cans, clothes racks, and shopping carts. Doing James Bond super flips and shit just to get away..lol It's soo sad, cause I wanna say Hi..LOL ok I'll stop.
SO in lieu of the new me, I have bestowed some of my favorite early 80's fitness shows that I used to watch with my mom as a real youngster.. Some of these are so funny to watch..and great nostalgia.
The first is: WPWR Channel 60 - 20 Minute Workout (Part 1, 1984)
I remember this one so vividly.. the lady had her own soundtrack goin and everything singing to the music.. I would laugh at her if she was my instructor.
Next: This one was the Early Morning Stretch with Joannie Greggains
It was on the PBS channel on TV, this one was free so I watched it at my grandma's cause you know Grandmama's didn't have that cable box thing that you had to push down each button to turn the channel.. omg, I'm getting old.
Hope you enjoyed the 1980's morning workout. I truly did.

Ok so this new year, as one of my blogger goals, I'm gonna try to blog.. almost
EVERYDAY, like all my other cool blogger counter parts.. so please bare with me if I post the most incrediably dumb, but rather funny stuff . I'll see if I can do it..
One thing that caught my eye was I was staying up late watching that O so crazy Jimmy Kimmell show and Kathy Griffin was on. As she was talkin I was thinking, she is so damn mouthy! Funny, but don't she ever stop talking? Those are the ones that give me that tight cringing pain that creeps up from my shoulders to my neck, then splits through my skull into a nearly bleeding migrane in the center of my 5 head.
Well while she was on she was talking about how she hosted Dick Clark's New Year's with hott ass Cooper Anderson, and how she's been all over the place because of her big mouth. She thought the camera's was off while she used FOUL LANGUAGE on national TV, but hey it was cable, you can say DICKS on cable!.. it was great.

The Holidays are over.. I've been on a vacation to get away from it all, and now I'm back. Back at the gym, back at the house, back at work, back to complete normalcy.
I didn't go anywhere special, just tried to change up my routine a little bit, while still enjoying all the family visit's and Holiday Cheer. It was awesome.
While I was gone, Chloie from the Orchestrated Destiny blog awarded me the Honesty Award! This came in great time with comming back and nothing too special to blog about. So.. Thanks Chloie <3
There are rules to claiming the award though. "The honorees are to: a) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap."
1. I'm actually named after someone: My Dad's EX-wife's best friend. Mine is spelt differently than hers, but it still sucks. Honestly.
2. I dis-like banana's cause when I was younger I saw the movie "School Daze" by Spike Lee and the ferternity were squizing banana's in the toilet with blind folds like they were poo during thier pledging, so I have that thought in my mind when I eat them.. Grose I know.
3.I'm a dedicated journal writer. I did it off and on my whole life, but a year before I met my husband I started taking it seriously. It's so funny to read back because my whole relationship from the begining is so interesting to reminisce on. I was like a freakin school girl writing the most CrAzY stuff. He was my muze.
4. I really love music.. Like all kinds. So much that I can't even keep up. I really like the old stuff. You would think I should know the books of the bible more than the lyrics of POLICE or Musiq Soulchild. I love re-discovering the the past, and what they were talking about in the song. Alot of the new stuff is kinda.. wack. I'm my opinion. Honestly, I don't know what the hell happened? lol
5. I have an severe addiction to sweets. No not the normal, piece of hard candy here and there... the I want to make a whole pineapple upside down cake, and then wash it down with a hot warm rasin, cinnamon bread pudding. Oh with rum sauce. I really don't know how I'm not 500lbs.
6. My Husbnad and I are 5 days apart his birthday...July 24, mine is July 29th. ::Take note:: lol
7. What else...? Um.. I've been to Aruba, St. Juan, St. Marteen, St. Thomas, Curacao on a cruise. It was so dreamy... after I stopped crying because my luggage was lost!
8. Honestly, I have a odd facination with washing powder- Gain perferably. Something must of happened when I was a kidd.
9. I have a quirky passion for news and journalism. I want to be behind the scenes producing/writting for news shows or programs/documentaries. Hopefully you'll see me someday for something I wrote. Someday.
10. I really love to love, spreading the happiness brings me joy and makes great friendships. Some people take it in as fake, but people really can be Honestly happy for another human being and mean it with a smile on their face. I give hugs alot too.
I'm AWARDING these awesome blogger victims:
1. "Who Throws a Cupcake? Honestly." - Quite fitting I might add =0)
2. Mega Ramblings!
3. Rouge Details
4. Slow World Fast Girls
